Full Moon in Sagittarius
This month’s full-moon on June 9 is in the sign of Sagittarius and being fully illuminated by the sun in the sign of Gemini. Full-moons are considered the most powerful point of the moon cycle; themes include high tide power, amplifying and creativity as well as releasing what no longer serves us.
Sagittarius symbolically is represented by the Centaur; half man half horse carrying a bow and arrow while the Sagittarius is known as the explorer, adventurer, discoverer. The full-moon being linked to these signs will encourage us all to seek the truth, pursue new visions, see the big picture as well as create more of a “wing it” mind frame. Together, they will create themes of knowledge, truth, understanding and communication.
Other astrological alignments will create feelings of contradictions during this period. The planet Saturn, which is the planet of structure and karma, is in retrograde. It may make you stop and ask questions such as What am I actually doing? What do I actually want to study? What am I wanting to move forward on? Its’ influence may make you feel like you have one foot on the gas and the other on the brake.
On another note, you must consider the addition of the Venus, which known as the planet of love and beauty. This planet also rules Taurus, an earth sign, and these two working in harmony creates a very warm alignment. You’ll find yourself asking questions such as What do I love to do? What makes me feel grounded? We will be able to welcome a sense of love, beauty, and practicality.
What can you do to best utilize the energy of this full-moon?
Sit with yourself for a few minutes, meditate and connect with your higher self and intuition. Be disciplined with your meditation or yoga practice this month, especially June 8-10.
In meditation, welcome your guides, ancestors and divine spirit to sit with you and make space for them to offer guidance and support. Ask the deep questions we touched on above as well as Where am I seeking growth? How am I cultivating a deeper connection to my spiritual life? What are the things I need to release to become the greatest version of myself? I encourage you to trust all these answers are within in. You simply need to be still and seek, be silent and receive.
Following meditation, I suggest writing out anything that came to mind during your meditation. Write a list that begins with I am releasing and write out all the things that are no longer serving you, the things that make you feel heavy and stuck. I, personally, always follow up with a fire ceremony! Find a bowl or dish that is safe to burn your paper in, say a prayer to set an intention. Try something as simple as Divine Spirit (or whoever you feel comfortable praying too) please help me release these burdens so I can become the greatest version of myself, thank you. So be it! Then burn your list! Another little touch I like to add is cleansing my hands in water after to signify the cleansing of the old.
